Chapter 1 - The Girl Who Made the Impossible Happen

The massive Rottweiler lay motionless on the white marble floor of a luxurious penthouse, his glossy black-and-mahogany coat reflecting the golden afternoon sunlight. Beside his muzzle stood a stainless-steel bowl filled with untouched food.

Five enormous bodyguards in matching black suits formed a threatening semicircle around a young woman kneeling beside the animal. None of them moved, but their intimidating expressions made her hands tremble.

Twenty-three-year-old Emily Carter wore an oversized cream-colored sweater with frayed cuffs and dark trousers. Her light-brown hair was tied into a messy ponytail, and exhaustion darkened her tearful brown eyes.

Across the room, forty-year-old billionaire Alexander Whitmore watched from a black leather executive chair. Dressed in an expensive three-piece suit, he rested his clenched fist against his mouth, studying the stranger suspiciously.

Emily carefully picked up a single piece of dry food from the bowl. Holding her trembling palm close to the Rottweiler's muzzle, she leaned forward without attempting to force his mouth open.

"Hey buddy, it's okay..."

Her voice barely disturbed the suffocating silence. The dog remained still, his breathing shallow and his eyes almost completely closed. Emily swallowed painfully, fighting the tears gathering beneath her lashes.

"...Just a little bit."

For several terrifying seconds, nothing happened. Then the animal's eyelids fluttered. His nose twitched faintly, responding to the scent of the food and the familiar softness of the young woman's voice.

With visible effort, the enormous Rottweiler lifted his head a few inches. He opened his mouth slightly and extended his tongue, gently licking the small piece of kibble from Emily's trembling palm.

Alexander leaned forward abruptly. His dark eyes widened, his mouth fell open, and the confidence that had always defined him disappeared beneath an expression of absolute disbelief.

"Unbelievable..."

Emily remained on her knees. A tear rolled down her cheek as the Rottweiler continued licking her hand. She carefully stroked his muzzle, smiling through her tears while the five guards watched in stunned silence.

"You're going to be okay." She looked deeply into the animal's tired eyes, holding her trembling hand against his face. For the first time in days, he responded to someone's affection, and Emily could barely contain her relief.
